Dale Jett and Hello Stranger Singer and musician, Dale Jett is a native of Southwest Virginia. He is a third generation member of the legendary Carter Family. The son of Janette Carter, the grandson of A.P.and Sara Carter, his roots have been heavily steeped within the heart of his family’s musical heritage. ”Hello Stranger” features Dale, Teresa Jett on bass, and Oscar Harris playing guitar, mandolin and autoharp.
Dave Eggar A musical prodigy as a child, Dave Eggar began playing the cello and piano at age three. By the age of seven, Dave had performed on Broadway and with the Metropolitan Opera. He debuted at Carnegie Hall at the age of 15. Dave is a graduate of Harvard University and the Julliard School’s Doctoral Program.
Jeff Little With few exceptions, the piano does not play a prominent part in Appalachian music, and is rarely the lead instrument. But Jeff Little is an exception – and a remarkable one. His distinctive two-handed style, much influenced by the mountain flatpicked guitar tradition, is breathtaking in its speed, precision and clarity.
Robin and Linda Williams Robin and Linda Williams are like your next-door neighbors - assuming your neighbors are the salt-of-the-earth and top-flight performers to boot. One minute you picture borrowing a cup of sugar from these two; the next, you’re completely stunned by their jaw-dropping talent. Bottom line: You feel right at home at a Robin and Linda concert, and their music stays with you like an old friend.
Wry Straw Reunion (Tom Bledsoe, Rich Kirby and John McCutcheon) The 1970s were a fertile time for old time music, especially around the central Appalachian farms and coalfields of southwestern Virginia and eastern Kentucky. Onto this fertile ground stepped John McCutcheon, Rich Kirby, and Tommy Bledsoe, and out of their friendship and love of music grew the Band Wry Straw.
